The Leaky Art Collective is a moniker and inspiration for a design ethos that emerged from an informal artistic collaboration. I have been “sense obsessed” since learning about our 33 biological senses and looking for ways to understand and maybe more deeply experience my own sensory system. As the Leaky Art Collective we seek to use all the techniques available, heartily experimenting and mixing media, upcycled and reclaimed materials, and tactile, involved elements to engage either a single human body in sensory isolation or conundrums, in order to “Leak” the awareness of the sensory experience. We also strive to make the process participatory, holding art technic skill shares and cathartic trash art parties.

Room with a green wall, a white door, and a makeshift tree made from fabric and a large brown sack, decorated with string lights.

“The Hugging Tree”- Aidan Costello: Parachute, fairy lights, Painters Linen, 5mm Cotton Cord, Damaged 2 Person Inflatable Kayak, 2×4 Temporary Pillar.

The Concept of this installation was as an iteration of the first element of a planned, larger installation “The Sacred Grove.” In which biofeedback elements coregulate with the viewer. In this iteration the slight underpressure of the kayak bladders allowed for a minor bounce back from the breath of the hugger, a sensation that simulated another body breathing in perfect synch.

Process Party Masks and The Garden Slug Helm - Ada Vogel and Aidan Costello: Plaster of Paris on Fabric, Acrylic, Cardboard, wood glue, dried flowers.

Shown at the Makerspace for the June Art Hop, these process art pieces were made along with a few more masks not pictured as costume elements for “The Labyrinth Ball” and the Slug Helm was a 2025 Bright Parade element that served as a platform for low barrier decoupage.
